“In Alberta, we are known for our beautiful expansive prairie skies, but lesser known and equally magically is something called the ‘Alpenglow’: where the sky turns a beautiful hue of purples and pinks at the start or end of day. You have to experience it to believe it! But what’s more magical is in the winter, the skies reflects on the ground and the white of the snow also turn a magical hue of pink and purple. This painting was the first I painted in my exploration of a series called ‘NIGHTFALL’, celebrating the Alpenglow at night. I had traditionally painted landscapes with red and greens - and now - purples and pinks.”
